You need a Local Rank Grid account (the free plan works) and this server URL:

- Open Settings → Connectors and click Add custom connector. On Team or Enterprise, an owner adds it in the organization settings.
- Name: Local Rank Grid. Remote MCP server URL:
https://localrankgrid.com/mcp. Leave the OAuth fields empty. - Click Add, then Connect. Our login page opens: log in and click Allow.
- In a chat, open the tools menu below the message box and switch Local Rank Grid on. Then just ask.
ChatGPT
- Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode (Plus and Pro; on Business and Enterprise an admin must allow it).
- Back in Apps & Connectors, click Create. Name: Local Rank Grid. MCP Server URL:
https://localrankgrid.com/mcp. Authentication: OAuth. - Tick I trust this application, click Create, then Connect. Log in on our page and click Allow.
- In a new chat, click + → Developer mode and pick Local Rank Grid. ChatGPT asks before running tools that use searches.

Menu names in Claude and ChatGPT change now and then. If a label doesn't match, look for “Connectors” or “Apps” in the settings.

Questions
What is an MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT use outside tools. Our MCP server gives them Local Rank Grid's tools, so you can run local SEO checks by asking in plain language.
Is the local SEO MCP free?
Connecting is free and works on every plan, including Free. Tools that search Google Maps use searches from your plan, exactly like in the app: a 5×5 grid uses 25, an audit 3.
Which Claude and ChatGPT plans support it?
Claude supports custom connectors on its paid plans and, with limits, on Free. ChatGPT needs developer mode, available on Plus and Pro, or on Business and Enterprise when an admin allows it. The assistants change these rules from time to time, so check their help pages if a menu is missing.
Is it safe? What can the assistant see?
You log in on our site and approve the connection; the assistant never sees your password or payment details and can't change your plan. It can only use the tools listed on this page, as you. Disconnect anytime under Settings → Connected apps.
Are the results real Google Maps data?
Yes. Every rank is a real Google Maps search from that location, the same data as in the app. If a result is ever a demo, the tool says so.
Does it work in German and other languages?
Yes. Ask in any language. Searches can run in 19 languages, and results show in the assistant's chat in your language.
Do scans from Claude or ChatGPT show up in the app?
Yes. Every rank grid and audit is saved to your History, and the assistant gives you a link that opens the map in the app.
It says “couldn't connect”. What now?
Check the URL is exactly https://localrankgrid.com/mcp, that you're logged in to Local Rank Grid in the same browser, and that you clicked Allow. Then remove the connector and add it again. Still stuck? Contact us.
